Construction

A Cape Craft Boat is created by first applying wax to the boat mold. This task is done by
hand which ultimately produces the mirror like finish you see on the complete Cape Craft Boat. |
| Gel Coat is next applied to the waxed mold. The gel coat is the cosmetic part of the boat we see. Gel coat application is the first step in the
chemical process of boat building which is a process working from the outside in. |
 |
 |
The next application of the boat building process is the skin coat. The skin coat is a layer of fiberglass that reinforces the gel coat. Synthetic core materials, fiberglass mat and fiberglass roving are hand laid into the mold over the gel coat for consistent strength and uniformity of thickness.
A blend of polyester resin and metered catalyst completely saturate the fiberglass and bonds the multiple layers of glass reinforcement together. Each fiberglass
layer is hand worked into every facet of the boat mold for complete lamination and therefore strength of the part. |
| A rigid grid stringer system is the backbone of all Cape Craft Boats. The stringer system is the frame that reinforces the hull below the floor. The stringer system is constructed of pressure preservative
XL panels fully encapsulated in fiberglass. The transom, stringers, and floor all have a lifetime warranty. Laminated to the hull, the stringers cure in the mold with the hull. |
 |
 |
As the stringers cure in place, resin and laminate are applied to the top of the stringers upon which the floor is placed. The floor is constructed with pressure preservative XL panels. The panels are
first resin coated on the bottom side where it will laminate to the stringers. The deck is then glassed into place with woven roven and tied into the sides of the boat for even extra strength. |
| All Cape Craft Boats are injected with expanding closed cell foam. Closed cell foam will not absorb water and provides safety, strength and sound deadening benefits. While not all manufacturers utilize foam in models 20’ and larger,
Cape Craft uses it throughout their entire line of boats. |
 |
 |
Once the hull is lifted from the mold it takes the form we recognize as a boat. The interior of a Cape Craft is gel coat that is sprayed to produce a consistent and smooth finish for the interior of the boat that is extremely easy to clean and care for. The color coordinated speckle is
also gel coat that forms a nonskid texture on the deck and reduces glare while operating the boat. |
| After the fiberglass hull is pulled from the mold, accessories and components are installed on and in the hull to make it a completed boat. Automatic bilge pump, livewell pump, hoses, rod holders, rub rail,
bow rail, inspection hatches, compartment hatches, steering cable, and more go into finishing the boat. |

All Cape Craft Boats are shipped by the tractor trailer load on company owned trucks and trailers to local dealers for retail sales. Cape Craft's are great boats that will provide you with years of trouble free and fun filled boating. |
